The IITD (Irish Institute of Training & Development) has released further details of the BA in Training & Development that it is developing in conjunction with the NCI (National College of Ireland).

The programme, which starts in the autumn, will be delivered on a part-time basis on the NCI Campus in the IFSC, Dublin. According to the IITD, the delivery schedule is most likely to consist of nine contact weeks per semester, two semesters per year, with a work-based project to run over the summer of the final year.

The classroom schedule is planned as follows:
Friday Saturday
Tutorial: 10am – 2pm Lecture: 9am – 1pm
Lecture: 3pm – 7pm Lecture: 2pm – 6pm

The degree programme has been developed in recognition of the need for a properly accredited and nationally recognised training course for trainers in Ireland. The course is couched in a business context, so that participants will be able to provide training solutions across a range of issues.

Skills and knowledge will be attained in the three core modules of Training & Development, Business and Consulting. It is envisaged that participants will be able to use their newly acquired skills to help businesses in the following areas:

q Maximising the potential of employees
q Sustaining the company within the knowledge economy
q Optimising the payback from training & development expenditures
q Improving alignment of business goals with annual plans and personal development
q Supporting career planning and promotion procedures
q Improving recruitment and retention of staff
q Benchmarking against best industry practice

Additional information in relation to course fees and the application process will be publicised by the IITD shortly. Participants who hold existing training qualifications may be eligible for exemptions through the NCI. The IITD (info@iitd.com) are currently seeking to hear from anyone who may be interested in enrolling in the programme.

The IITD, the professional body that represents HR and training professionals in the business, industry, consultancy, voluntary, public and education sectors, was formed in 1969 and currently has approximately 2,000 members throughout Ireland.
